The Holt Bookshop
The Holt Bookshop is an independent outlet situated in the charming Georgian market town of Holt in beautiful North Norfolk.
Situated just off the High Street, the shop has more than 12,000 books in stock and prides itself on its variety of local interest titles including a wide range of natural history books.
The shop was opened by Stephen Fry in 2005 and was quickly recognised as one of the best bookshops in the region.
For the last two years it has been named by The Independent as one of Britain’s best 50 bookshops and it has also been commended in The Guide, The Guardian’s directory of leading independents.
Holt Festival 2012
The Holt Bookshop hosts and organises a wide range of author events at the shop, Gresham’s School and as part of the annual Holt Festival.
Past guests include Kate Aidie, Diana Athill, Alan Bennett, Stephen Fry, Peter Hennessy, Richard Ingrams, Alexander McCall Smith, Michael Palin, Stella Rimington and Shirley Williams.
The shop also stocks a wide range of children’s books in its dedicated children’s department.
During Holt Festival week actress and singer Amy Finegan can be found telling stories with her fabulous props and flair every morning.

The Holt Bookshop is the only bookshop in the country to stock the full range of Persephone Books and products.
Persephone Books reprints neglected fiction and non-fiction by mid-twentieth century (mostly women) writers. Their books are beautifully produced and make wonderful presents.
